Sarkari Naukri Age Limit Calculator
Enter your DOB and the cutoff date — you will know which exams you can apply for, and until when
What is the Cutoff Date:every notification names one date on which your age is counted — most often 1 January, 1 July or 1 August. Your age is taken as on THAT day, not today. This is why someone who looks over-age today can still apply. Find "age as on" in your notice and enter that date here.

- * SSC CGL: In SSC CGL the maximum age is not the same for every post — some posts go up to 27, some to 30, some to 32. The highest limit (32) is shown here, so 'Eligible' means 'eligible for at least some of the posts'. Check the figure for your own post in the notice.
- * SSC MTS: For MTS the range is 18-25, but for the Havaldar post it is 18-27. The figure shown here is for MTS.
- * RRB NTPC: For graduate-level posts the maximum is 33; for 12th-level posts it is lower (30). The figure shown here is for graduate level.
- * RRB Group D: RRB changes the age limit slightly in every CEN (sometimes an extra 2-3 years of relaxation has been given too). It is essential to read that CEN's notice before filling the form.
- * Indian Army Soldier (GD): Army recruitment gives no age relaxation by category — it is 17½ to 21 years for everyone.
- * UP Police Constable: In UP Police both OBC and SC/ST get 5 years of relaxation. The maximum age for women candidates is different (25). Constable recruitment has no PwBD posts (because of the physical standards), which is why PwBD relaxation is shown as 0 here.
- * Bihar Police Constable: In Bihar Police, OBC (male) get 2 years, OBC women 3 years and SC/ST 5 years of relaxation.
- * NEET UG: NEET has no upper age limit — you only need to have completed 17 years. (There used to be a 25-year limit; it has since been removed.)
- * JEE Main: JEE Main has no age limit. But the year you passed 12th matters — usually you should have passed 12th in the last two years or be appearing this year.
The number in the table is the FINAL maximum age — the relaxation for that category is already added, and the brackets show how much was added. The minimum age is the same for everyone and gets no relaxation. These limits are based on previous notifications and can change.
Category Wise Age Relaxation — How Many Years
| Category | SSC / Railway | UPSC / Bank | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / UR | 0 years | 0 years | The limit written in the notice is the final one |
| EWS | 0 years | 0 years | Gets 10% reservation in seats, nothing in age — this is the most common misunderstanding |
| OBC (NCL) | 3 years | 3 years | Your Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be valid on that date |
| SC / ST | 5 years | 5 years | The caste certificate must be in the central format |
| PwBD | 10 years | 10 years | This relaxation is added on top of your own category relaxation — PwBD + OBC gets 13 years |
| Ex-Serviceman | 3 years | 5 years | The actual rule: your service in the forces is deducted from your age first, then these years are added — so the relaxation can work out to more than this |
| Widow / divorced woman | — | — | Up to 35 years on some posts (40 for SC/ST) — only where the notice states it clearly |
The PwBD relaxation is cumulative (as noted above); the other category relaxations are not given together — whichever gives you the most benefit is the one that applies. Every relaxation needs a certificate, and it must already be issued when you fill the form.
Frequently Asked Questions
From which date is age counted in a government exam — today, or some other day?
Not from today. Every notification names a cutoff date (most often 1 January, 1 July or 1 August), and eligibility is decided by your age on THAT day. So someone who looks over-age today can still apply — as long as they were within the limit on the cutoff date. Look for 'age as on' or 'candidate should not have been born earlier than' in the notice, and enter that date in this calculator.
Does the EWS category get age relaxation?
No. This is the most common misunderstanding. EWS gets 10% reservation in seats, but for age it is treated exactly like General — no extra years. Age relaxation is only for OBC (3 years), SC/ST (5 years), PwBD (10 years) and ex-servicemen.
What does a maximum age of 32 mean — can you still apply on your 32nd birthday?
No, and this is where most people get caught out. The notice says 'must not have attained the age of 32 years', which means you are eligible only until BEFORE your 32nd birthday. The day you complete 32, you are out. The UPSC notice spells it out itself: '32 years on 1st August 2024, i.e. must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1992' — note that it says 2 August, not 1 August. That is why this calculator shows the actual last eligible date against every exam, not just the year.
OBC gets 3 years of relaxation, so does the maximum age become 35 instead of 32?
Yes, that is exactly how it works. Relaxation is added to the upper limit, not to the minimum age. The General limit for SSC CGL is 32, so it becomes 35 for OBC, 37 for SC/ST and 42 for PwBD. The minimum age (18) stays the same for everyone. The table above already has the final number worked out for each category.
Is the maximum age for SSC CGL 27, 30 or 32 — which is the real number?
All three are correct, because SSC CGL is not one exam but one recruitment covering many posts, and each post has its own limit. Some posts go up to 27, some to 30 and some to 32. This calculator uses the highest limit (32), so 'Eligible' here means 'eligible for at least some of the posts'. You must still check the number for your own post in the post-wise table of the notification.
How is age relaxation calculated for ex-servicemen?
The actual rule for ex-servicemen works a little differently: the length of your service in the forces is deducted from your real age, and 3 years are then added on top (5 in banks and UPSC). So the longer you served, the more benefit you get. This page shows only the straightforward 3 or 5 year calculation — the service period is not deducted, because it differs for every person. In your case the relaxation may work out to MORE than shown here, not less.
Is there any way out once the age limit has passed?
The limit of one exam does not apply to every exam. In the General category SSC GD closes at 23, but RRB Group D runs to 33, UPSC to 32, and many State PSCs go up to 35-40. That is exactly why the full table above is here — leave aside what has closed and look at what is still open. This calculator also shows 'eligible until' against every exam, which makes it much easier to plan.
Is this calculator official?
No. It is only a tool for doing the calculation, and the limits in it are based on previous notifications. Age limits can change every year (the railways have granted extra relaxation more than once) and they also vary post by post. The final word always belongs to the official notification — please open and read it before you fill the form.

If your age is fine, the next question is always the salary — In-Hand Salary Calculator takes your Pay Level and shows what will actually reach your account (with the full breakdown of Basic, DA, HRA, TA and deductions). For new vacancies, keep an eye on Latest Jobs — once the last date for the form is gone, the age calculation is of no use.
